The second annual “March for Jesus Augusta” on Saturday had over 7,000 people in attendance, and 100 people accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior while Christians gathered to worship and pray together.

“Many people were ministered to and prayed for that day,” the March for Jesus Augusta organizers told The Christian Post on Tuesday, adding that as many as 100 young people accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior.

The group that organized the event, Christians in Media, told CP that this year’s theme was “Every Praise Is to Our God,” which was “all about lifting up the name of Jesus.” Their mission was that the community would experience “unity, closeness and relationship” together.

The event, which was largely attended by those who live in the Central Savannah River Area, also featured popular Christian music groups, including Consumed by Fire, VRose, Miles D Mealing and Nu’Movement, Shelley Wade, and local legend Flo Carter.

The March for Jesus Augusta website notes that: “In a time when our religious freedoms are eroding, we believe it is more important than ever that we share the oneness we have in Jesus Christ, the cornerstone of our faith. When the Body of Christ comes together in unity it encourages the local church and makes a very positive statement to our community.”

The first March for Jesus Augusta was held on Aug. 15, 2015, and was also attended by thousands of worshipers.

According to the About section of its Facebook page, March for Jesus Augusta officially states that it is “not a political event” but rather “about bringing the body of Christ together in unity praising Jesus.”

“We believe that it will tell our local officials that the Church is in unity working together and willing to fight for what is right. Our hope is also that it will inspire other cities to do the same,” noted the Facebook page.

“Please keep the Augusta For Jesus March in prayer and get involved. Let us praise Him together.”
