Sam Amaga Foundation is a non-governmental organization that has helped to bring life and hope to several thousands in and beyond Nigeria. The foundation was founded by Archbishop (Dr.) Sam Amaga ad his wife Bishop (Dr.) Love Sam-Amaga.

GIVING ORPHANS HELP, HOPE AND A FUTURE.

Sam Amaga Foundation through it’s office selects and grants scholarships to orphans and sponsors them through tertiary education. Archbishop Sam Amaga has always known the importance of Psalms 68:5 (A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.) but the reality of this verse came alive when he lost a very dear friend in ministry who was shot right before his wife and little kids. The trauma was too much for the orphaned children, who saw their father in blood, gasping for breathe in the dust and eventually giving up. Enoch the first son recovered from that sight many years later, because it was indeed too much for him to bear.

Archbishop Sam Amaga once said that training orphans through the university is a passionate ministry which he uses to share the love of God to the world.

BECOME GOD’S HELPING HANDS TO ORPHANS AND WIDOWS

Whenever you become sensitive to the care for the poor and particularly for the widows and orphans, God becomes sensitive to your own heart cry. We believe that defending the poor and fatherless is one of our purpose.

– The orphans are crying for quality education, widows are lamenting for their children – you can defend the right of an orphan to experience the quality education that will give him or her hope for their future.

– We believe, “If anyone stops his ear from the cry of orphans, when such a person cries to God for help, God will not hear them”. We also believe “whoso stoppeth his ears to the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard”

WHY WE MUST EDUCATE OUR YOUNG ONES

“Education is development. It creates choices and opportunities for people, reduces the twin burdens of poverty and disease, and gives a stronger voice in society. For nations, it creates a dynamic workforce and well-informed citizens able to compete and cooperate globally – opening doors to economic and social prosperity.

According to the Education Commission of the States, more than half of today’s employers insist on hiring people who have at least graduated from high school. That is up from 20 percent in the 1940s. The organization claims that young people with high school diplomas also earn more and are less likely to turn to public assistance or crime than those who haven’t graduated”.

This is why we are passionate on educating these neglected, abandoned and clearly traumatized orphans. When a society neglects its youth and fails to invest in their education, especially those that are less privileged, they grow up with ignorance as their first language. They grow up without the basic knowledge of the working world and therefore can never infiltrate the job market. And since ignorance becomes their bliss, they become the unwanted class of society. Because they lack wisdom and understanding, they become tyrants and seek to oppress the society. They have no peace and so they feel that no one else should have peace. Is that their fault? Because their peers are educated, a divide forms and the uneducated youth form resentment against the educated and the rest of the society. So, there’s no unity in the society. When there’s no unity, there can never be progress. And this spans off through generation to generation unless stopped. When will it stop?

In Sam Amaga Foundation, we want this neglect of the orphans who are abruptly cheated of the love, affection and companionship of their parents and no access to quality education, put to an end. Our Project 1000 Orphans aims at providing a minimum 1000 orphans quality education in a God-fearing, leadership based and entreprenueral university. We shall all smile when they become great and useful members of the society. You can become God’s helping hand today to join us train these orphans.
